Chairman
Ricky started his career in the late 1980s as an entrepreneur. Over the years, he made various acquisitions and built several successful businesses. In 2006, Ricky incorporated Legend Investment Holdings in Hong Kong to consolidate his investments. In 2008, he set up Sun Venture to acquire prime commercial properties in Singapore, and since then, he grew the business significantly. In 2016, he formulated multi-asset investment strategies to diversify the firm’s assets by establishing a fund management unit to invest in global equities, funds, and bonds over a long-term horizon. He further expanded Sun Venture’s investment capability in 2020 by setting up a private equity unit to invest in promising and privately held companies in the region.
Throughout the years, Ricky played a key role in transforming Sun Venture. To date, Ricky regularly offers guidance to colleagues and readily implements changes that matter to the firm. This helps to drive Sun Venture to maintain its relevance in the industry, continue its growth trajectory and develop its employees to the fullest.
Partner
HC Yang is a passionate entrepreneur with business interests in real estate. He had founded real estate companies in Taiwan, where he embarked on various notable residential projects in the early 1990s. With his vast business network, he also founded and developed other businesses in Greater China.
As a co-founder, HC Yang works hand in hand with Ricky, playing a key role in the active management of Sun Venture, and advising the investment teams on deals and acquisitions to further develop and grow the firm.
Chief Financial Officer
Ying Jian spearheads strategic planning, execution, and management of the firm's Finance, Fund Operations, Risk Management and Compliance functions. Additionally, he oversees the Corporate Office in the Isle of Man. Ying Jian possesses a strong background in business analytics and strategic planning across various industries and geographies. He formerly served as the Group CFO at Yeo Hiap Seng, overseeing Finance, IT, Legal, and Corporate Secretarial functions. Before that, he held the CFO and IT Director roles at The Learning Lab and was the Group CFO and Group CIO of BreadTalk Group Limited. Ying Jian began his career as an Equity Research Analyst at J.P. Morgan Securities.
Holding a Double Degree in Business Management (Finance) and Accountancy (Summa Cum Laude) from Singapore Management University, Ying Jian is also a Fellow Chartered Accountant of Singapore and a CFA Charterholder.
Head of Investment
Serene supports the principal in managing the investment portfolio. Prior to joining Sun Venture, she spent 14 years as a consultant to the regional institutional clients at Mercer Investment Solutions Singapore. As their Head of Advisory, she led various projects including strategic asset allocation, manager selection, fund selection, out-sourced CIO, regulatory reviews, and monitoring of investment programmes. Before Mercer, she was the CEO of ING Investment Management Asia Pacific (Singapore) Ltd.
Serene holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University. She is also a CFA Charterholder.
Head, Private Equity
Yueh Pyng leads the Private Equity team. Prior to joining Sun Venture, he was part of the Investment Group in Temasek where he managed investments in the transportation and logistics sectors globally. Before that, Yueh Pyng was a Vice President at Crescent Point Group, a China and Southeast Asia focused private equity and special situations firm, focusing on growth opportunities in Southeast Asia, as well as an investment banker with Deutsche Bank in Singapore, covering Southeast Asia.
Yueh Pyng holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (First Class Honours) from Nanyang Technological University.
Co-Head, Private Equity
Jeremiah co-leads the Private Equity team, alongside Yueh Pyng. Prior to joining Sun Venture, he was with Affirma Capital and Standard Chartered Private Equity. He led portfolio management across Southeast Asia and held Directorships on the Board of Crystal Jade, Phoon Huat and Tat Hong. Additionally, Jeremiah spent two years in Mumbai with the Standard Chartered India team, spearheading growth capital investments in healthcare, media and industrial sectors.
Jeremiah holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from the National University of Singapore.
